[Dan's time on the network got monopolized too much to respond to Guy Crood when he saw his contribution, but that doesn't mean it went ignored. Dan's putting an effort in to get to know everyone, be they hire or staff, not out of any malicious strategy but because he does, in fact, give a damn if everyone's doing alright. People mock his "bleeding heart" all the time, but the truth is that he just doesn't like to see anybody in pain if it can be prevented. There's enough pain that can't be ameliorated in the world; there's no excuse to not try to ease the hurts you can.
So he uses his connections at the mess hall - he has so many of them now, being one of the few hires learning every lunch server's name, what every dishwasher's kids are interested in, how every line cook's back is hurting them and what their favorite dishes are to make - and he hustles together a little box of treats, the kind of thing he'd want if he were sick, trying to think of the fact that Guy's from an earlier age and probably doesn't want the sugary processed crap and alcohol that Dan basically subsists on, and probably not a lot of dairy. Fruit and jello cups, a box of chicken broth, some rice cakes, an ice pack and a clean hand towel.
And then he heads back to the dorms in one of the free hours he can find.
He knocks on Guy's doorframe.] Hey. Hi, I'm Dan. You said you weren't feeling so hot on the network?
