Sound's more like skinwalkers to me. Though they don't always kill the people who they look like. Mostly they take on the look of somebody else. Kind of a problem if they decide to look like you and start killing people.
Nothing specific that I can think of. It's usually something that we come across as a way to either break a curse or maybe find something.
