[locked to the New Hires][video] Looking Alive
Everybody get the HELL to one of these locations!
[Stacia copy-pastes the information she's just received on two locations: floors, sections, and designations and intersections. She designates them Blue and Red]
I don't know who sent the information, but our people are under attack.
Coordinate here so we get people to both places. I'm going to location Blue. Lonestar, you'll want to check over my comm later, we can arrange a dead-drop.
Let's MOVE IT, people!

[It sounds more like he's simply going, because he is already mid-sprint out of his room as he speaks.]

Rogue's still out. Ain't sure if she's at Blue, but if you got her? Careful not to touch skin.

[He races out the door of his quarters at an impressive sprint, the comm floating along with him.]
I need an escort or two to meet me on the way to the Infirmary to increase my chances of survival on the way there.
With Doctor Grey gone, we have no New Hire clinician presence there now, and if one of the nonhuman New Hires has been injured the doctors here have no training whatsoever in xenobiology.
When it comes to nonhumans, they may as well be apes with scalpels. We're lucky they didn't kill some of us implanting the nanochains.
[He has to focus on what needs to be done - and the problem is he can't be everywhere at once. He plans on providing guidance from afar, while prepping Infirmary supplies based on what they'll need for their described injuries.]
[The Infirmary is where he needs to be. Not running around the halls looking for Robbie.]
[As much as he wants to. As much as he's desperate to.]

[Which could mean anything from a tryst to comm destruction.]
That said, I can handle cybernetics work, but I won't be good for much more than simple first aid. I'm not a Lifesaver, after all.

[Little boxes. Dr Ry'kerr had told him conceptualizing emotion just to slam it into a box to bury inside himself wasn't a healthy long term mechanism but that compartmentalization and repression weren't shameful to use as temporary survival mechanisms in extremely high stress situations if no others would work. It was better to use something unhealthy and process in a more healthy way later than to completely crack up from stress or trauma.]
If anyone finds them, report in with their status. If they're still - [There is the slightest hitch where his breath catches and the slightest tremble in his voice] - still alive, describe the condition of their injuries in detail so I can provide guidance on first aid and we can prepare the Infirmary.
Oh, and if any of you remove anything currently perforating their bodies instead of letting them be properly removed by a surgeon, I will smuggle in contraband fabric crafting supplies and use you as a sentient pincushion.

try not to die in the next like thirty seconds

[Look if he's got to take over doctoring for Dr. Grey, it's his job to worry.]

are you really gonna be picky about your bodyguards right now
sorry this ones a lil scuffed up your majesty

[Especially when Dave is an alternate of someone he's already fond off.]
[But he also knows Dave's telling the truth for the same reason.]
I'm near Stairwell 5.

race you there
[Similarly, Brainy probably knows exactly how he handles a race and won't be surprised when he's suddenly waiting around a corner. It's not the time to drag feet.]
--> action
[And he knows Dave. He trusts Dave. So far this Dave doesn't seem that different from the one he knows, and therefore he knows he's the type to cover someone's back and doggedly refuse to back down.]
[Brainy's endurance is high enough that he can still gasp out conversation while sprinting. He's found that it's best to match his teammates in physical endurance during fighting, despite his role so often being relatively stationary.]
[Sometimes you need to backflip out of the way of an attack, such is the superhero life.]
Do you have any experience with first aid? Or can you at least take direction? I'd rather have an inexperienced, one-handed teammate who listens helping me than even Jorgmund's best physician.
no subject
Yeah, I've patched myself up plenty.
[It's a curt response, but he tends towards unreadable enough that it probably doesn't seem out of place unless someone's got insider info.]

[This Dave deserves to not know about the video special and death counter, if possible.]
[They reach the Infirmary and Brainy barges around, yanking drawers over and directing Dave and the nurses.]
We have incoming injured. Prepare for a possible mass casualty triage event.
["But -" a nurse starts.]
Where are Glotfelty, Jenkins, and Honeywell?
["Jenkins and Honeywell are visiting home, Glotfelty's on a private consult in the executive wing."]
Get her in here! And someone contact Washburn and the Armory, tell him to grant me emergency permission to get my omnicom back. It's far more advanced than your era's neolithic scanning technology.
["You heard him, people!" Special K calls out and now the nurses actually move. "I want a code cart at every bedside!"]
Dave, there are sets of clamps in that drawer over there. [A gesture to the right set of drawers and then he goes back to pulling out some IV bags.] Bottom to the left. They're packaged together. Put a set on the tray of every bed the nurses are loading supplies for.

Upon entering the infirmary, Dave does hesitate just briefly. He wasn't lying about his first aid experience, but it was more of the "shitty bathroom patch jobs" variety. Faced with an actual properly equipped medical facility with trained help, he's suddenly unsure how legitimate or useful any of his experience really is, no matter what Brainy says.
But the green meanie is comfortingly on top of shit. The specific instructions ease a hint of uncertainty out of Dave's frame and he just nods, jumping to work. It's an immediately hectic scene, nurses scurrying around to prepare for god knows what, but Dave weaves through it all to do as he's told.]

We got two incomin': Robbie an' Rogue. Didn' see mos' of his injuries, but he's gotten speared straight through. Pro'ly other cuts an' injuries I didn' clock, but dat's de big one.
Rogue's a bit worse off. [Later, he'll be proud of how level his voice sounds at that. And at least with the comm hovering on its own, nobody can see how his hands are shaking.] Gut shot, looks like, an' dere are some blades an' deep cuts. An' dat salope shot her wit' a dart. Ain't sure what's in it, but Rogue's havin' trouble breathin'.
video
The spear needs to be cut with something so that Robbie can be moved without dislodging the piece in his body. And then that needs to be bandaged to put pressure on the wound and help keep the embedded piece in place. It can only be removed by the surgeons.
You can possibly find a laser cutter in the Machine Shop.
[He starts rummaging through drawers in the Infirmary, having already memorized where everything is in his time volunteering there with Dr. Grey.]
As for Rogue, leave the blades in place. Other than the dart, leave anything embedded in place so it's only pulled out when she's here in the Infirmary so we can control the blood loss.
What other symptoms is she having? Do you see any change in her coloration? Paleness and blue lips? Is she bleeding from the eyes, nose, or ears? Is there any local swelling at the wound site where the dart hit?
video
[He's defaulting to codenames because...it's easier, when he needs to compartmentalize this much. He doesn't know Robbie's code name off the top of his head, so he's using what he knows.]
[It's a moment as he murmurs something off-screen, leaning down to check something. Then he's up and moving with her in his arms and the comm trailing him.]
Ain't my first rodeo. 'Sides, Beast'd have my hide if he ever found out I took anyt'in' out of a penetratin' wound like dat.
[There are questions to answer, but it takes a moment to martial his mental forces.]
She's pale, but dat could be shock. Havin' trouble breathin', which I'm bettin' ain't. Lips ain't blue, yet, but guessin' dat's only a matter of time. [He has to clear his throat because of the lump that just popped up. Then he continues.] She's unconscious. T'ink she siphoned off some of Robbie's power 'fore we arrived. Dere were an awful lot of 'splosions when we got dere, an' dat's usually my department. Uh... [Another glance down at the woman in his arms.] No bleedin' from de face. Some swellin' 'round de wound, but not'in' dat much.
You best tell de doctors not to touch her skin wit' deirs. Her powers work on contact an' de las' t'ing she's gonna be wantin' is a buncha deir memories an' personalities runnin' 'round her head when she wakes up.
[It's a when, not an if. He's not letting himself think that way. Not while she's still breathing and warm in his arms.]
Re: video
[One of them starts to say, "Dr Glotfelty -"]
Dr. Glotfelty is apparently ignoring her summons here. And the rig's administration refuses to recognize Nurse K's education as a physician because - shocker of shockers - she wasn't able to pull scores from her recently finished board exam in the sprocking apocalypse.
["Well, I mean, she doesn't know if she passed and will never know -"]
I do, because unlike most of the staff here, she actually knows what she's talking about.
["But how do you know anything about human medicine? You're not even hu -"]
I passed my Xenobioligical Medicine board with a perfect score when I was nine. ["Nine?"] I chose to forgo undertaking a residency because I was more interested in physics and engineering but I was legally considered a physician.
["But without a residency -"]
Without a residency, I've still forgotten more medical knowledge than Glotfelty has learned over her entire medical career and as general habit, I don't forget things.
Now move!
[He shoves past the protesting nurse. Other nurses, however, are not protesting, they can be seen shrugging and basically going 'At least someone is taking charge' and start helping him prep the Infirmary for a mass triage. Special K especially beams at Brainy's protestation she's a better doctor.]
Gods forbid you decide to invent time travel instead of wasting your time in a profession that's mind-numbingly tedious because they've already cured almost every disease -
[He stops huffing out whatever complaint he was making, picking up an entire basket of supplies and carrying them over to the trays.]
I'll inform the staff of Rogue's power. If they're not wearing gloves as due course I'm going to do things that cause me to accrue even more involuntary electroshock therapy.
[Like really, come on. That's not sterile.]
The area where the dart hit would be heavily swollen if it was a hemotoxin or cytotoxin, as the blood clotting issues or necrosis would be worst at the wound site. They also typically work a little more slowly. If she's already having difficulty breathing, it's likely a neurotoxin, affecting the nerves of her diaphragm and lungs.
Depending on its potency and whether or not it's excitotoxic to the brain, we may get lucky and only have to keep her on a ventilator until the toxin is metabolized. If it is excitotoxic, we'll know from the scans and there may be ways to counter that pharmaceutically.
Unlike Glotfelty, the surgeons here are moderately competent. If I can get her intubated, stabilized, and into the surgical suite, they can handle the bullet wound and other injuries.
video
[The flatness of Remy's voice could be from keeping his emotions under control. Or, at least, trying not to absolutely rage over what he's just heard. Or it could be disbelief. Any of those could work, but Remy is definitely not impressed.]
[Still, that last assurance does get a nod out of him.]
We'll be dere soon as possible.
[And then the waiting would begin.]
Re: video
[His voice is dripping with disgust over the fact she's currently paying more attention to what's essentially a regular doctor's visit.]
Two of the other emergency doctors are away from the rig on personal business.
I am currently the closest thing to a physician in situ.
[He huffs out breath that makes him sound mildly more overwhelmed than usual.]
I can certainly act as one and plan to so that we have a detainee on staff at all times but it's pressing need, not preference. I have a distinct feeling I'll be regularly lamenting the fact that Dr. Grey isn't still here.
At the very least the nurses are generally competent and Dave is providing some assistance. He has some practical first aid experience.
But I welcome assistance from any other New Hires with the equivalent of emergency medical training.
video
'Course she is. 'Cause dere ain't no reason for her to be in de infirmary, doin' her damn job, hein?
[He huffs out an annoyed breath, though he shifts his hold on Rogue so that he's holding her closer. Trying to keep the jarring from his running to a minimum.]
Mebbe, if we all wish hard 'nough an' are good little boys an' girls, Santa'll see fit to send us another doctor for Chris'mas.
[Hopefully, Brainy can tell that Remy's not denigrating his skills or anything like that. But having to depend on the corporate doctors rankles him. Especially when the one currently on the Rig gives no shits about the New Hires themselves.]
[Plus, he's tired and worried and annoyed. It's not a great combination. Especially for his temper.]
'Fraid I ain't much on the emergency medical trainin' m'self. But I ain't opposed to learnin' if dey ever offer a first aid course.
