I think before we answer this question it's worth establishing a baseline for what qualifies as "normal."

(I can already say mine was not, either way; but I suspect yours was by no means normal by the standards of some of our homes.)

Baseline normal, at least in my world, is middle class family, married parents, one or two siblings, with no major tragedies or injuries beyond perhaps a broken arm or leg.
