Pride Month Party!

Hello, everyone! I was talking to someone from the staff, and they informed me that here June is traditionally Pride Month, an event where we can celebrate all forms of love not only between men and women but between all genders, and I think it's a beautiful initiative!

They appreciated my enthusiasm and they explained me all the pride flags, so they allowed me to organize a party to celebrate Pride Month. The party area will be the mess hall, and there will be rainbow cake, snacks, cookies with the pride flag and many pins and boxes of facepaint. The staff said that costumes are allowed, so express your creativity!

I am currently picking the decorations. I met someone who calls himself the Counselor, but he doesn't really work here? I'm not sure, but he has been very nice to me and he is currently instructing me about Pride Month traditions and helping me organize the party, if you want to join and help us we appreciate it. See you all this Saturday at 21.00! Happy Pride Month!

...They celebrate that here? Here? In cooperate hell? Where we're not even supposed to openly date each other?

[The shock is partly due to just any large community outside of a strictly LGBT+ one celebrating Pride, or even just Pride being an openly talked about thing, really. And being stretched into a whole month at that (that sure was a departure from what he knew to be the norm).

But also just the fact that it was Jorgmund. The company who openly kept them as slaves and experimented on people.

Then again, this was the same company who made them take mandatory meditation and mental wellness class, and who threw a Valentines party that included a speed dating game...minus the dating. Really the company's message was pretty clear, "We see you. We appreciate you. And you're free to love whoever you want! Just so long as we don't have to know about it and it's not interfering with your work. Here, have a cookie."

Joy.

But even if Jorgmund wasn't sincere about it (and he was 100% sure they weren't), Jennifer sure seemed to be. And as much as he wanted to bitch about the hollowness of the gesture, he couldn't bring himself to just rain on her parade. So he reals back in the impulse to go all snarling disaffected teen on the whole project.
]

Are we making our own cake and snacks? Because I could help with that. I don't trust them to not give us stale garbage.

[He pauses, and then a little more tentatively asks- ]

...And what are some of the pride month traditions? I've never actually take part before...or really had that as an option.

[Even over text, Jennifer's enthusiasm is kind of infectious, he couldn't help cracking a smile.]

Yeah. Yeah, it is. Kinda sucks it came so close to the end of the world. But, still good to see we got there eventually.

And this sounds like it could be fun. I do love costumes and celebrating violent acts of rebellion.

I'm guessing since this was new to you too, that these things haven't progressed this far back in your world either?

My personal guess? They're probably hoping to use it to see if anyone's breaking the fraternization rules and who with.

Fuck. That's even more cold and insidious than what I'd assumed they were up to.

...Which probably means you're right on the money. Definitely wouldn't put it past them.

Gotta admit, been a while since I been to a Pride event. 'Course, most of the ones I've been to have been in either New York or New Orleans. Ain't much like a parade, but ain't nothin' wrong with a good party, no matter what.

You've seen the parties they have here. She has a whole mountain of uphill to climb.
