We're working on interplanetary exchange and betterment! It's a pretty complicated road. The Empire spent thousands of years conquering and colonizing, so most of the planets they spread to don't, uh. Have any other cultures to speak of. [ Hard to build that up when you drain life from the planet itself, and all. ]
But we've spent a lot of time disbanding the armies and liberating the colonies, and pushing towards peaceful coexistence! Most Gems have a lot of work to do on the personal level after all that, too. Just learning to be cool with free will and being able to do what they want, and making friends. We've got a school set up in Little Homeworld for exactly that kind of outreach on Earth, though, and it's going great! Gems from all over can figure themselves out, make new connections, learn about other cultures. They can even decide to stay on Earth living with humans if they like it enough.
[ Look, Steven is very proud of all these things regardless of his decision to step back from running Little Homeschool. They're nailing it. He can always say a lot about Gem-Human relations. ]
And humans have been amazing about accepting them and learning from them, too! Earth history and Gem history have kinda mixed together in a few places. Not always in a great way, but it doesn't mean it should get ignored. It's no Pizza Planet, but I like to think what we've worked for helps give everyone some much-needed Pizz-a mind.
