007: AMAs, Third Round
So, we've got a load of new people, and that means it's time for me to do the only thing it feels like I get on these comms to do anymore: AMAs.
For you new people, I find it helps when we get together and explain a little bit about ourselves, any powers we have, and our skillsets. That way we know what we're starting with and what we can build off of. So, please, come and introduce yourselves and be willing to answer questions.

video, delta dialogue in green
[ She's going to regret doing this, she can feel it. Or maybe she's just pessimistic. ]
Like I said when I got here, my name's South. Ask me what my real name is and I'm not going to answer. And yes, North's my twin brother, which I see he's already covered. [ Eye roll. ] CQC's my specialty, but, thanks to being lumped in with North all the time, I can do stealth. I hate it, but I can do it, better than ever since arriving here. [ Ugh, stupid new power. ] Anyway, I'm always up for sparring, when I'm... able.
[ She sits back. She very obviously has a splinted hand. ]
Ask me whatever, but don't be an idiot about it. Otherwise, ugh... Delta, you can introduce yourself. I guess.
[ A green holographic figure of a man dressed head-to-toe in power armour projects from the puck around her neck. ]
Hello. My name is Delta. It is nice to finally be enabled to communicate with you all.
Oh, don't start.

[Kerrigan means Delta, probably? She seems to think "adjutant" is a common term.]
no subject
[ South makes a 'what the fuck is she talking about' face, but Delta's quicker to catch on. ]
If by 'adjutant' you mean Artificial Intelligence, yes. Though our personalities are less 'programmed' and more inherent, due to how we are typically created.

[StarCraft only has "dumb" AI.]

Smart AI such as myself are created using a process called 'Cognitive Impression Modeling', whereby a human brain is scanned and its neural pathways are recreated as a Riemann matrix—
████ing hell, Delta, we didn't even get taught half of that ████ in class!
[ Delta does not stop talking. ] —which is the basis upon which an AI is built. The process is essentially autonomous once initiated; our personalities form as we form. [ He looks back at South. ] No, Agent South, you simply did not pay attention in class.
[ Strictly speaking, Delta's a special case, but... he's not going to get into that. ]
no subject
Huh. You know, I bet we could do that back home.
[Nothing could possibly go wrong.]

It is a constantly evolving science. AI in our universe are currently constructed using Fifth Generation technology. However, if it is possible in our universe, I do not see any reason why it would not be possible to develop similar technology in another universe.
[ South just groans in the background. ]
My understanding of the mechanics of these alternate universes is, however, extremely limited.
[ He's been observing, but South doesn't let him out to chat that much, so he hasn't been able to learn as much as he would like. ]
no subject
[Except breaking them, she's real good at that.]
It's just...well, we're about to be in a three-way alien war on top of the civil war we already had. We need all the help we can get.
no subject
[ Finally South stops just grumping in the background and chimes in. ]
████, and I thought our war was hell. Dealing with the Covenant and Insurrection at the same time was bad enough. Three-way alien war?
no subject
Zerg hivemind infesting terran colonies. Protoss expeditionary force "sterilizing" any world with zerg contact. And us, smack in the middle of our civil war.
no subject
████. That sounds like a ████in' nightmare. Sure, the Covenant was trying to wipe us out but at least we weren't dealing with anyone else. Except other humans being idiots, but that's almost a given.
[ Oh if only South knew. ]
Yeah, you sure sound like you need all the help you can ████in' get.
no subject
[Oh no, she's space racist.]
no subject
████ only knows. We didn't do ████ to the Covvies before they came after us, they just went right to intergalactic genocide. Go figure, huh.
[ South's no better. ]
no subject
[Jerks.]
Did yours even tell you what their problem was?

Uhh, thanks? I think? [ Mild bemused look before she shrugs it off. ] Plenty ████in' capable, yeah. I wasn't the best in my old squad but I was up there.

[ South takes a moment off-video just to blink like 'huh, okay', genuinely thrown off by said recognition, before actually responding with a more South-like: ]
Well, yeah, you're damn right I do.

We were special ops. Ran infiltrations, asset retrievals, assaults on enemy positions, clearing out enemy bases... that sorta thing. We were damn good, too.
[ Until they weren't. Though that was more of a teamwork issue than a problem with raw skill. ]
When the guys up top didn't have me on ████in' stealth [ grumble grumble ] I was usually up front. Close-quarters is my thing and I've always enjoyed a good ambush.
no subject
I've fought and been part of a unit but I don't know that I would ever call myself that skilled.
no subject
[ Internally, South thinks: yeah, try telling all that to my old bosses. ]
I've been active military for over a decade at this point, so that helps. The longer you fight the better you have to get and all that, especially in the war we were fighting.
no subject
[ If so there was promise there, but if she was motivated by profit, the advantage would lay with their 'employer.' ]

[ South quirks a brow, almost as if saying 'is that even a question?'. ]
I'll always fight to protect my own interests.
[ Always has, always will. Of course, to anyone who knew her before the rig, this statement wouldn't necessarily be a reassurance, but here and now her interests align with the other New Hires. ]
