007: AMAs, Third Round

So, we've got a load of new people, and that means it's time for me to do the only thing it feels like I get on these comms to do anymore: AMAs.

For you new people, I find it helps when we get together and explain a little bit about ourselves, any powers we have, and our skillsets. That way we know what we're starting with and what we can build off of. So, please, come and introduce yourselves and be willing to answer questions.

[ Loken smiles, but almost immediately looks sad. ] One thing that never changes is human tenacity, or the the amount of threat that we are under.

[Kerrigan is way too young to sound so resigned.]

If there is one thing I have learned to my detriment, that while Xenos-breeds and other such things are terrible threats, humanity makes the greatest enemy of itself. Ambition and jealousy will tear at us, and make the light we carry as a torch gutter out before any alien ever could.

I...yeah.

[Well, that's depressing.]

In person, I think. While I do not mind talking about the things that hurt me, this is not the place. I would imagine your story is not dissimilar. Seek me out when you are ready to share it.

[Her actions during that mess don't reflect all that well on her, but Kerrigan's only dimly aware of how normal people think about war, and that doesn't occur to her.]

[It doesn't sound dismissive, because she's smiling a bit.]

How does food for you here compare to your previous provisions? I almost starved before they realized my caloric intake is higher than baseline.

[In a fit of indignation about incompetence, Kerrigan doesn't answer the actual question.]

They didn't ask your BMR right off? You're two and half meters tall!

[Yeah, she's exaggerating the height a bit, but close enough.]

No. Much like my clothing. [ Coveralls with the arms and legs cut off because he is too big for them ] They seem to believe one size fits most is good enough.

[It's a disgusted scoff. Kerrigan's dealt with evil organizations before, but never incompetent ones.]

I will not say it has been an easy time. I hope your experiences have been better than mine, in that regard.

Me? [Shrug.] It's been fine. I'd need more if I was in the field, but not while I'm sitting around here getting fat and slow.

["Fat and slow." She works out like four hours a day, minimum.]

The training machines here are unimpressive. I mostly have to fight our fellows if I'm to maintain any sort of an edge.

The robots are pretty handy. I can't read their minds, so it forces me not to be lazy keeping track of the field.

That is one advantage to being a psyker with telepathic abilities, I suppose. I had never thought to ask my gifted compatriots about the tactical abilities that would grant. Is the added inflow of information difficult to process?

[zerg_rush]

To me it's not added. [Kerrigan shakes her head.] I've been able to sense minds as long as I can remember.

[Which is a lot less time than for most people, but Loken hasn't unlocked that dialogue tree yet.]

Not having it is like being blindfolded.

Now that I have heard psykers say. They feel cut off from the greater universe. They referred to those of us without such talents as blunts. A... xenos I was briefly assisted by said similar things.

[Kerrigan scoffs.]

It's just annoying, not spiritually devastating.

[Apparently all of Loken's psychic friends back home are drama queens.]

I cannot speculate on the spiritual aspect of things. I am secular by nature, as are all adherents of the Imperial truth. I put my faith in science. Though some here have seen fit to try to proselytize at me with ancient variants of what I believe is the Terran faith of Cathericism.

I couldn't tell you much about that. I've never met anyone from the core worlds who was religious. [She shakes her head.] All the really loud believers from...what's it called... [Kerrigan needs a second to dig up the name] ...Christianity went to the fringe worlds a while back, because it was that or get arrested. The fringe is full of weird cults now, big surprise.

WEll, this fellow certainly came across as a weird cultist. Have you met Mac?

I listened to 30 seconds and decided I had better things to do, like bang my head against a bulkhead or have oral surgery without drugs.
