007: AMAs, Third Round

So, we've got a load of new people, and that means it's time for me to do the only thing it feels like I get on these comms to do anymore: AMAs.

For you new people, I find it helps when we get together and explain a little bit about ourselves, any powers we have, and our skillsets. That way we know what we're starting with and what we can build off of. So, please, come and introduce yourselves and be willing to answer questions.

Actually I would like to meet you, where and when?

[ She's ready to talk, and if being this open gets people to respond, well the risk may have been worth it. ]

Whenever. As for where... wanna go up top and stare at the desert?

If seen worse sites. Meet you there in five minutes?

Yeah, sure, see you there.

[ True to her word, Catra is up on the top level of the rig. She has herself perched rather dangerously on one of the railings. Shading her eyes against the desert sun and heat, she peers out at the passing desolation, waiting for this princess to show up. ]

[ Leia was still learning her way around the rig so it took her a little while to find her way but she was hustling so Catra wasn't kept waiting long.

Leia emerged and blinked in the bright light. ]

Thank you for being willing to meet.

I mean, we're gonna meet eventually. Don't read too much into it.

[ Catra's tail flicks a little. ]

But yeah. That thing they put in us hurts. I got punished for trying to give some asshole a few new scars. I had to take a couple days to recover just from that. It's like all your nerves being on fire at once or something.

[ Leia nodded and listened. the first step in any mission was gathering intelligence and if someone had first-hand knowledge she was happy to hear it. ]

So it's true physical damage and incapacitating.

[ But she'd recovered, so that was something. ]

The person you fought with, were they like us or not what they term a new hire?

Yeah. And I just got the first level. You rack up five violations and they just let it go 'til you're dead. Your "employment...."

[ Catra makes air quotes for that word. ]

...gets terminated. I went after this jerk they have doing physical training. Planker. He just likes making us suffer and I'd had enough that day.

Where I'm from there is a sort of ruling body or one that wants to be. They believe that it's acceptable to enslave, drain the resources of or even destroy others. They've killed for simply having a difference of opinion or being a different race.

I fought them, lead a resistance against them.

I am willing to do that again.

Been there, done that.

[ The resistance thing? Or the conquering/enslaving thing? Who knows! Catra turns, leans against the railing with her back towards the slowly passing desert. ]

God luck with your little resistance, but I'm not stupid enough to get myself killed for ideals. Talk to me when you have an actual plan aside from 'I'm not happy about this.'

I've already met and started discussions with five warriors who all have a vested interest in getting out of here. I don't think that's bad for being here less than twenty-four standard hours. Even I need more than a day to set things in motion.

[ Leia folded her arms and borrowed a smirk from the most confident person she knew, Han could get people to agree to anything, she needed that pull now. ]

Trust me.

[ Catra snorts, then breaks out into open laughter. She laughs for a good minute or so, doubling over as her sides start to ache. She straightens, pretends to wipe a tear from her eye. ]

You're serious? Wow. That's really cute.

[ Catra shakes her head. ]

You've met five people here! Great, so have I. Doesn't mean I'm signing up to get myself killed for you, Your Highness.

[ That struck a nerve, the woman was so like Solo. She seemed to know exactly how to pin a nerve in her to set her off.

Leia straightened her back and her hands rested on her hips. ]

It's a start, everything starts somewhere. And if you don't want to be part of it that's not exactly the first time I've run into that. Just don't get in my way.

[ Catra smirks. Pissing people off is just a talent of hers. ]

Please, like you'll actually do anything that's worth messing with.

[ All she was doing was making her more determined. ]

Then I guess it's not anything you'll need to worry about.

[ Don't worry, Catra knows what she's doing. ]

Guess not. Any other speeches about friendship and hope you want to give me, princess?

Friendship? No, that's not my goal here. But hope? It's the only thing that you can never lose sight of. Because when everything else has been taken from you that is all you have left to fight for.

[ And what she's doing is categorizing herself in Leia's mind as: Not helpful to the cause. ]

Well, Your Highness, I haven't had any of that for a while. Try and sell it to someone else.

[ Catra waves a hand dismissively. ]

Just saying, maybe take your time to get to know the lay of the land before you start trying to assemble a righteous army for yourself.

You are just like him!

Whatever that meant to someone who had no idea who she was talking about. Leia threw up her hands of it.

I am trying to do both, and gathering the information other's know is one of the best ways to do that. Even this, [ She gestured between them, ] tells me something about the situation.

Oooh, I remind you of someone?

[ Catra gets a grin on her face and practically purrs as her tail flicks side to side in naked amusement. ]

You're just like every other princess I've met. Self-righteous, full of herself, and convinced that she's the only one who knows what's best for everyone around her. Glad to know you all meet my extremely low expectations.

No one you'd want to know.

[ And that was clearly the end of anything even remotely productive between them. ]

I've been fighting since I was twelve, I've lead entire galactic rebellions, and I don't claim to know what's best for everyone but I'm not about to sit around and let people be held prisoner by some faceless corporation when all of them deserve to be free.

I think we're done here.

[ Leia turned on her heel to leave. ]

Cute.

[ Catra prowls around to get in front Leia. Clearly she's not done, even if Leia seems to be. ]

I've been fighting my whole life and I didn't grow up some spoiled brat in a castle somewhere. You're the same as the rest of them. You don't understand anything. So good luck, princess. Can't wait to see how all your rebellion experience shakes out here.

[ She sneers at Leia. She can feel anger bubbling underneath her exterior disdain and shoves it down. Losing her cool here means she loses. ]

[ Leia stopped sharply and wobbled back a step to avoid bumping into her. ]

Well then I guess you'd better just stay clear of me or my lack of understanding could get you hurt.

[ Her tone is quietly seething but her back is straight and rigid. If the other isn't going to back down then neither is she. ]

Oooh is that a threat?

[ Catra takes a step or two back, but she doesn't get out of the way. If Leia wants to leave she has to go through Catra. And Catra doesn't think she has the guts. ]

Be careful, you might knock a hair out of place, Your Highness.

Threats are pointless, you should either be confident of what you are capable of and able to prove it or not.

[ That said she looks at Catra and her position and arcs a brow. ]

Looks like one of us is going to have to move.
