Video, after Babadon't
Appearing onscreen is a tall, gangly man who already looks fed up with this entire situation. He's not happy, and for that matter neither is the dragon behind him.]
Hi. Figured this is as good a place to introduce myself as any. I'm Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third, Chief of Berk. The dragon behind me is my best friend, Toothless.
Just to get it out of the way, yes, I have heard every possible joke you could make about that. None of them are funny.
Normally this would be the part where I'd say I'm happy to meet all of you, but my wife gave birth to our daughter two days ago. So while I can certainly think of worse possible times for all this, this one is still pretty high up there.
[LOCKED]
If there are any Legionnaires here, however? Disregard that. I [Toothless nudges Hiccup] We actually are happy to see you.

Re: [video, tinted slightly green]
It's a great vacation spot. Try the yaknog.
Seriously, though? Don't try the yaknog. I don't know what's in it and at this point I'm too terrified to ask.
Re: [video, tinted slightly green]
I'm from Redtown, in Seattle. It's a city on the northwest coast of America - great place to be, if you've got the money to live somewhere that isn't Redtown.
There were vikings way in the past, where I'm from. The dragons hadn't woken up then yet, though, so I don't think you're from my world's past. You guys do longboats and pointy helmets, or does it mean something else to you?
Re: [video, tinted slightly green]
Although that's not really true for all of us, just my tribe and a couple others.
Re: [video, tinted slightly green]
Are you Toothless' translator, then? The dragons back home can talk with anyone if they want to, but generally don't. They pick someone out to talk for 'em. Not sure why, think it's an ego thing, at least for the greats - [belatedly, she realizes this could be construed as rude] - not to imply anything, Toothless! My best friend is a dragon, too, so I'm curious, that's all.
Re: [video, tinted slightly green]
And dragons don't talk where I'm from. Toothless is pretty good at getting across what he wants to say anyways, though, and I'm not too shabby at figuring it out myself.
We make it work. Don't we bud? Don't we? Yes we do...
[Hiccup starts scratching behind Toothless's earflaps, and the dragon starts thumping his back leg before turning and licking him.]
Ah, yep. there's the slobber. Wonderful. That still doesn't wash out, y'know.
[The mischievious look on Toothless' face says yes, yes he does know.]
Re: [video, tinted slightly green]
Toothless definitely ain't the same as the dragons back home. How long have you known each other?
Re: [video, tinted slightly green]
About seven years or so now? Seems longer, honestly, but it's been a really eventful seven years.
Re: [video, tinted slightly green]
My best friend, Maggie, I've known her all my life. The dragon thing is recent... it's complicated. But she always was one, just didn't know.
Re: [video, tinted slightly green]
Re: [video, tinted slightly green]
[Her tone is wry; she fully expects this explanation to only raise more questions.]
She has feathers, though. Well, scales too. Sort of a combination of all the other dragon types, doesn't seem to fully be any one of them. Apparently when dragons are raised by other dragons, they learn their form from their parents, but she didn't have dragon parents, so....
[An eloquent shrug]
I guess her dragony magical bits sort of improvised.
Re: [video, tinted slightly green]
Yeah, none of that's a thing where I'm from. Dragons being magic, at least. I can't exactly rule out the idea of feathered dragons, but I haven't run into any yet.
Re: [video, tinted slightly green]
Feathered dragons are called, uh, quetzalcoatl. [She about breaks her jaw getting it out properly, but she does say it right. She'd better, after all those times Maggie drilled it into her] Or feathered serpents, if you really can't get it out. They're mostly from south america.
