[Nora's holding her comm like she's grabbing someone's lapels, and the resulting angle is weird, but it doesn't hide that she's looking a bit. Intense at the moment.]

Where can I get a bunch of Lightning Dus--uh, electricity in a hurry? It's important.

Well...you can't really gather electricity. It's not stuff.
bothbarrels: (PB: Now what do you say)

[ North puts on his dadliest tone to explain this to her. It works on Theta, so it ought to work on her. ]

I'm sorry, but whoever told you that was telling you lies. Electricity is energy. It's like the same thing that makes it so you can move, or think, but it's made by power plants instead of your body.
bothbarrels: (PB: Just thinking)

[ Poor Nora. She sounds delusional. ]

Maybe it's just the different physics between worlds, then.

[ Also, completely right, even though he's just trying to get this to not become a "nuh-uh!" "yes-huh!" kind of argument. ]

Where I'm from, and here as well, I think, electricity is made by getting potential energy to turn into kinetic energy in power plants. Then it runs through wires.
bothbarrels: (PB: Go on)

[personal profile] bothbarrels 2020-09-26 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Power outlets. You know when you want to listen to music and you plug your stereo into the wall? That runs on electricity coming through the wire.
bothbarrels: (PB: This is what I think)

[personal profile] bothbarrels 2020-09-26 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Believe me, that's what it does. You can try me if you like.

Just don't put anything besides a cord in the wall.
bothbarrels: (PB: Let me explain)

[personal profile] bothbarrels 2020-09-26 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
It's just something to remember.

[ That's quite a...noise...Nora just made. ]

You sound disappointed.
bothbarrels: (PB: Skeptical)

[personal profile] bothbarrels 2020-09-26 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I...?

[ North scratches his cheek and lets out a sharp exhale. ]

I certainly don't mean to be. It's just you seem to be unclear on the way it works and the danger if you were to interact with it.
bothbarrels: (PB: Just thinking)

[personal profile] bothbarrels 2020-09-28 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
All right. That's good to know.

Uh - just about everywhere? There’s sockets and light bulbs everywhere, not to mention humans. It’s not about where can you get it; it’s how much do you need and if it one of those weird sockets that are old and loose around the plug.
walkingballpit: (26)

[personal profile] walkingballpit 2020-09-26 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[ He’s suddenly really glad she didn’t hone in on the humans as batteries concept. ]

You... thought we were tying things to the wall?

[ She has a point. ‘Why wouldn’t’ questions are so hard to answer on the Rig. ]

Because it’s not an RV?

[ He doesn't do well with completely non-technical scenarios! Wait until he realizes she's never had a boombox. ]

Oh, it's a recreational vehicle. R. V. Basically, it's like a living quarters on wheels that you can drive around to go places.

Glamping is definitely superior to camping. Do people hike outside of Central Park?
walkingballpit: (36)

[personal profile] walkingballpit 2020-10-04 02:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, don't worry about it. None of it applies here anyway. It's not like we're going camping anytime soon.

[ He doesn't want to make her feel bad about it by continuing to try and fail at explaining. ]

The Ranger Plane has a taser. Why do you ask?

[Jorgmund knows the Rangerplane exists. It's hard to hide, especially since Gadget needs it to get around quickly. The fact that there's a taser installed in it is the secret part.]

Yep. I built it myself. Just needed an old bottle, a glove, some leather strips...you'd be surprised what some people around here just throw away.

Or something?

[ That's his job too so it's cool. ]

Good idea. Just try to test it in a way that won't prove fatal should it.... go awry.
greyerrant: (The knight of shadows)

[personal profile] greyerrant 2020-09-29 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
Forgive me if I'm less than sanguine about the prospect. Would you mind terribly if I attended the testing?

[ Mostly so he can get you to medbay immediately should things go wrong. ]

I would be somewhat skeptical if you hadn't already proven you can do just that.

Somehow I'm still not reassured. [ somewhere Torgaddon is laughing because Garviel just voluntarily made a sarcastic joke without prompting. ]
