[Video] [Locked to New Hires only] [TW for Punishment in the linked log.]
Stacia, Armstrong, I need to see both of you in person. On the double. Five minutes ago. Anyone else with a real good sense of smell, you come see me too.
[On the camera, underneath his oak tree in the garden, Bunny has a little bit of that dead-eyed stare that comes from being reminded how thoroughly shackled they all are to the most banal form of evil. Mostly, this is just businesslike, direct. Calmly urgent, after his furious meltdown in the Executive wing got him nowhere good.]
Everyone else: Sam and Dan and I tracked what attacked Tenten and Setsuna into the Executive wing. I smelled it there recently before the suits caught us and kicked us out.
[There's no real reason to bring up their Punishment. It happened, it hurt, he hates that he dragged Dan and Sam into it, but they all knew it was likely to happen. And if anything they learned can help prevent any further damage to the kids, it'll have absolutely been worth it.]
I couldn't identify the species, but it's supernatural, and old. Older than me. Some variety of predator. Given we tracked it into areas we're not allowed to go, and it spent a lot of time wandering around there all leisurely, it either looks enough like a suit that they gave it a pass, or it can walk through walls. If I had money, I'd put it on walking through walls. I'm not ruling out both, though.
But don't worry. Jorgmund's bringing in - [he scoffs, and rolls his eyes hugely] dogs to finish tracking it.
I'm still racking my brains to see if any memory of what it could be falls out, but if any of that rings any bells for all you, I'm all ears.

[video, open to all in this post]
[He holds absolutely zero ill will against Bunny for roping him in; having a sense of purpose is such a nice change of pace from this tedious, trundling corporate existence.]

[He frowns at the screen.]
So they don't intend to even let us properly hunt this thing down? We're just supposed to sit on our hands and hope no one else gets mangled?
[If they won't even let Bunny sniff it out, he doesn't imagine they'll let him have his sigils on the Rig long enough to prepare a spell that might help in tracking it. Fuck.]

[He has a little more of that deadpan, dead-eyed anger in response to Rune's frown.] According to their rules, yeah, we are.
Which is to say, if you need someone to watch your back while breaking their rules again - I need maybe another hour to quit twitching from the shock collar, but after that, I got you.

[Bunny said "five minutes ago" not "as soon as you can grab an escort", so whatever he needs to tell her in person must be of dire importance. So Stacia runs, using the steady ground-eating pace she'd developed over years of cross country practice and competitions. It gets her there double-time, and not even breathing all that hard. She calls out when she spots him, per her usual "don't freak out the prey animal insticts" etiquette.]
Bunny, I'm here!

[He has his boomerang holster in his paws, and he upends it, pinching the corner of a scrap of torn blanket between the tips of two claws.]
I picked up as much of the killer's scent as I could. Try not to touch it, but get a good whiff. If you smell any trace of that while you're about, you sound the alarm straight off, got it?
no subject
[This is important though, so she only sighs a little as she backs up a step or two and crouches down.]
Keep an eye out for any full-fledged Jorg employees for me.
[Stacia shifts, but not to Crinos. This time, she goes all the way to Lupus. She's small for a wolf, just like she's small for a human, but a wolf is still a wolf, not a dog.
She sits up politely, so that Bunny can present her far more sensitive nose with the bit of blanket.]

VIDEO
Can you tell what kind of flavor we're looking at? Avatar of a god? Demon?
VIDEO
We got a loose definition of what a demon is across the different dimensions here, but I didn't smell anything from my world that'd call itself demonic, and no sulphur, which Sam tells me indicates a demon where he's from. Same problem with the gods there, too, any of the ones I know would just do their own work.
But again, if I were putting down money - this is an ancient, powerful predator, so an incarnation of a concept or an elementary spirit or some other world's god isn't out of the question. I'm not leaning towards a demon here.

[Things Armstrong never thought he'd be doing: Rushing to the gardens to get a deep whiff of the Easter Bunny. But there he is, trotting on up like he hadn't just been pounding down the halls at top speed. He picks up their conversation just as smoothly as if it'd always been in person, though.]
Gods don't generally do their own work where I'm from. Don't know why. [He is, of course, not privy to the Ban.] I've seen two and that was one too many.

I'm not saying that this being is from my world or has similar origins, but back home there was a spirit of vengeance, supposedly created by -
[He gestures vaguely because grife he knows how this sounds.]
By the Judeo-Christian God, to execute those who were guilty of murder. This Spectre was supposedly an angel of wrath who slew the firstborn children of Egypt in Earth's Biblical history. He was a terrifying reality manipulator, capable of warping circumstances around his victims to kill them in ironic punishments appropriate to the way they themselves had killed their own victims.
He ultimately could not be stopped until we found the -
[Another deep breath.]
The Lance of Longinus, that supposedly was anointed with the blood of the Christian messiah figure. To use to seal the being away magically. Due to corruption by the soul of Adolf Hitler, one of Earth's worst genocidal demagogues, it had to be wielded by one of the team's most selfless individuals, as only the pure of heart could remain uncorrupted long enough to seal the Spectre away.
[Ugh the scientific skeptic in him is screaming after saying all those things, but his point:]
My point isn't that this being is identical to that, simply that the possibilities are endless and potentially extreme. The Legion never could've anticipated a being like the Spectre until actually encountering it for the first time and discovering its history on Earth.
This could be someone altered by Stuff, but the fact that other realities apparently superimpose onto this world means a variety of dangerous magical or supernatural influences, or unknown species, could've found their way into it. We must be prepared for a wide range of possibilities including those beyond our comprehension or anticipation.

Angel is...less of a stretch than I'd like it to be. Being able to manipulate reality would certainly explain it walking through walls. Of course, it being able to do short distance teleportation would allow for that as well.
[He sits back from the communicator, considering.]
Of course, it might not be something supernatural at all. Not straight up, at least. It could be magical. Or something else, even. Or, as you said. It could be somebody altered by the stuff.
[A pause, then a sigh.]
Fuck, this is annoying.
