001: Group Introductions - TEXT

[During a lull in the party, Armstrong taps out a quick message to the network. Not that private one, he doesn't trust it. They can answer whenever they like, so long as he gets an answer. The trick would be wording it.]

So, we're all in this for now. You've had your welcome cake, but you can't meet everyone in a party, no matter how hard you try. But, since we've all been encouraged to sign up with Jorgmund, I figured now would be a good time to get some introductions done. Talk about any specialties we might have.

Share information that we feel comfortable sharing. This isn't to pressure anyone or to force out any dark secrets.

[Not where watchful eyes can see, at least.]

Besides, I prefer doing this to making a cute information sharing game.

So, please, make your own threads within this post to keep everything organized.

How did you show me your face? It seemed like you were here talking to me. Like a window.

Video setting!

[Attached is a screen capture of the interface, with the video icon circled and "Touch this one (but on your screen, not this image)" written in loopy cursive with a smiley face and an arrow pointing to it.]

[Elsa touches the video button. Her face is initially in, like, the bottom corner of the screen. You see the ceiling of her assigned room for a moment, until she picks the communicator up off her lap to scrutinize it and see if it's working. She spots the little thumbnail of herself in the corner and startles again, but doesn't drop the communicator.

She leans in way too close to look at the tiny picture of herself. Eye closeup here. Is her eyeshadow made of crystals? Hard to tell in the shitty light. Then, Elsa pulls back, straightens her shoulders, clears her throat, and asks with as much dignity as she can muster, speaking to a device in a room alone:
]

Can you see and hear me?

[Emily needed a minute to figure it out herself when she first got the comm, but because it was primitive by her standards. Why no hologram?!

Her face pops up as video. She's not wearing makeup, because Jorgmund, but her hair's neatly braided, and she looks like a woman who knows how to wear a coverall.]

Yep!

[She laughs, relieved and amazed. Elsa gives the camera a little wave, still getting used to this being possible.]

Hi.

[She has her comm set to float to save her arms.

Yes, there's a hover function. Yes, Emily found it.]

Hello, Elsa!

[SHE'S A WITCH or reading the name on Elsa's coverall.]

[She sees that Emily isn't holding her communicator, so Elsa creates a little stand out of ice to hold it off of her bed at about eye level. She is not assuming there is a hover function. She is assuming Dr. Grey is magical.]

Thank you for your help. I'm glad we have a doctor around.
