001: Group Introductions - TEXT

[During a lull in the party, Armstrong taps out a quick message to the network. Not that private one, he doesn't trust it. They can answer whenever they like, so long as he gets an answer. The trick would be wording it.]

So, we're all in this for now. You've had your welcome cake, but you can't meet everyone in a party, no matter how hard you try. But, since we've all been encouraged to sign up with Jorgmund, I figured now would be a good time to get some introductions done. Talk about any specialties we might have.

Share information that we feel comfortable sharing. This isn't to pressure anyone or to force out any dark secrets.

[Not where watchful eyes can see, at least.]

Besides, I prefer doing this to making a cute information sharing game.

So, please, make your own threads within this post to keep everything organized.

huh, wonder where they're getting the blood.

[Jack Spicer, asking the uncomfortable questions in a totally innocent not at all leading way.]

emergency medical supply probably, so i'm not real stoked to use any more than i gotta.

[ He gets a completely serious and pensive answer. ]

they coulda just killed me if they wanted so it must not be a problem for them.

or if it is, they think i'm gonna be useful and i'm real not sure how i feel about that.

[Aw, a calm, rational, non-wildly speculative explanation, that's no fun. But he does bring up a good point.]

if that's the case, i'm pretty sure you're in good company on the 'useful problem' qualifier. well..."good" might be subjective. you're in company.

pretty sure that describes more of us than not. plenty of useful future problems among us at the very least.

not gonna lie i am worried about what all this job is gonna be considering who they think is useful and how they're real big on the us not deciding what to do thing.

anyway hey don't sell yourself short dude, i'm sure you're fine.

yeah, that's usually not a good sign.

then again, i did hear one person suggest they might only be forcing us to help because they thought we wouldn't help otherwise. personally i think that's a load of crap but maybe it's a theory that's up your alley.

and hey! who said i was talking about me?

[He was totally talking about himself.]

i'm a great guy. ask anyone.

[Can't even type that with a straight face.]

[ Kevin scrolls a bit. ]

oh right you're the supervillain dude. i'm not gonna pretend i get that but the rest of it sounds pretty dope.

[ Diplomacy, thy name is Ingstrom. ]

my experience with shock collars isn't a whole lot but i'm used to having to worry about mind control and goons people who bought the cops so like, i kinda doubt they just want us to help cause they care and want to hug lots of puppies.

[Man, it’s weird how well people keep taking the whole villain thing. Sure, neutral ground and all, but still, weird. Then again the guy’s a vampire, so maybe he figures he’s in no position to judge.]

don’t think that was really how he thought it was going to pan out either. his theory was more along the lines of “people in horrible situations can do horrible things”. so, less blind optimism, more resigned attempt at humanizing.

the logic is sound but i just personally don’t believe it applies to our situation.

was that other vampires that were buying out the cops? or are you clashing with the mob back home?

uh, honestly there is probably both going on but i stayed out of things that were over my head. which was most things. and owning the cops is just kind of the thing a local vampire government does, i guess, cause that's useful.

as for the company... like no offense to whoever is probably reading this someplace else for security or whatever but a lot of things are reminding me way more of vampires than is good to have.

yeah, i could see how it would be.

so there are enough vampires in your universe to have their own government? and i’m guessing that ties into how these people remind you of them? i could probably make some guesses on this but what kind of similarities are you seeing between the way they run things?

well i guess there isn't a lot of vampires in the big scheme of things. like ok new york had a lot compared to other places cause it was a real big city so it could, but still like. i've never seen more than 30 vampires in one place under most circumstances ever. idk how many vampires were in new york really but i think it had to be less than 100.

still that is way enough people that somebody would want to make sure it was all organized, and vampires don't honestly like each other very much usually. so like. there was kind of a vampire government that made rules about how to vampire good and not piss off all your neighbors so much that everything goes all murder spiral and all the mortal people notice.

but also not everybody agreed with that and it's vampire politics and that shit's mad complicated.

point is that when you got vampires with mind controlly powers and cops and ghouls and good beating the shit out of each other powers and fuck knows what else, the vampire government wanting you to do things a certain way was not the most unscary thing to deal with and they would definitely kill you if you fucked up hard. and i got the same vibe here, if that's what you were gonna guess.

i can also tell you if you are right about other guesses if you want.
