001: Group Introductions - TEXT
[During a lull in the party, Armstrong taps out a quick message to the network. Not that private one, he doesn't trust it. They can answer whenever they like, so long as he gets an answer. The trick would be wording it.]
So, we're all in this for now. You've had your welcome cake, but you can't meet everyone in a party, no matter how hard you try. But, since we've all been encouraged to sign up with Jorgmund, I figured now would be a good time to get some introductions done. Talk about any specialties we might have.
Share information that we feel comfortable sharing. This isn't to pressure anyone or to force out any dark secrets.
[Not where watchful eyes can see, at least.]
Besides, I prefer doing this to making a cute information sharing game.
So, please, make your own threads within this post to keep everything organized.

That? I can help with that. Been cooped up in the City so much these days that I should be an expert by now.

What's it like, living there? Does the Traveler speak to any of you, or ...?
no subject
The Traveler... well. Until not too long ago it was... comatose? Not an expert on the cognitive states of mysterious sky orbs here. But we had a man we called the Speaker who represented it. That gets into an intersection of faith and politics that's probably a bit hairy for casual conversation, though.
[ Cayde shrugs. ]
All told, I was happiest outside shooting bad guys and taking their stuff. But that's just the kind of guy I am.

Comatose? Oh my. It is probably best if I don't ask for too many details, it might be too difficult to explain over the network, then? But I would like to learn more about it, nonetheless. You and Saint-14 describe it in ways that sound familiar to me, but I wonder if that's really accurate.
And now you're here, instead, on this much smaller Rig with the rest of us ...

[ Cayde leans back in his seat, thinking. ]
I'm not used to having to explain about Exos, you take that one for granted in the City. We're as human as anybody, but you might say we've got a prosthetic everything. Some tech wiz figured out transferring minds into robots a long time ago. Don't ask me how, can't remember it. None of us does. Exos don't as a rule, and Guardians don't remember what happened before we died.
[ He waves a hand a little as if tossing all the things he can't remember over his shoulder. It's in the past, it's fine, he doesn't need to talk about it and that's obviously perfect. He clearly doesn't have any ugly bits and pieces he's dug up or held onto to complicate things. ]
Being a Guardian doesn't have much to do with it, it's just what I was already when my Ghost picked me up the first time. You know. Aside from dead.
[ He reads. Next question? Next question. ]
I'm a Hunter, so my grip on things with the Traveler and the Light is a bit... applied theory, and by applied theory I mean explosions and fun not-dying tricks, but it seems like we'll have some time around here if you wanna talk about it.
[ And speaking of time, and here... Cayde's shoulders sink and he sighs. ]
And you said it. I'm not claustrophobic, but if I'm cooped up somewhere for too long I start pulling out all my feathers. So to speak. They better not be lying to me about how much they're gonna need us to go out and do things.
no subject
I assume we will find out if they are lying about anything relatively quickly, although I choose to believe they are sincere about what they intend to do with us in any case ...
no subject
[ As for the rest, a nod. ]
Wish I could have faith they mean it about helping people out. I'm willing to do it, just expecting to be disappointed.
no subject
I guess I just don't know what else to do except take them at their word, even if they keep trying to make it hard to. I just don't know anything about the world beyond this Rig, yet, to feel comfortable doing anything else.
no subject
[ A beat, more thoughtful. ]
Well... Sort of.
[ Then he shakes his head, firmly. ]
Dammit, no, definitely not. They've got other things to be doing. Would I appreciate the Warlock expertise, especially considering we don't know what's out there and it's bound to be weird? Yeah, but I'd rather the City not be down another Guardian.
Besides. It's not exactly the kind of place you'd wish a friend into, right?
